There was a place that I used to dream of visiting every single day as a child, and even now as an adult, it occasionally crosses my mind. That place is the amusement park. Recently, a friend mentioned wanting to go, and since I had been thinking about it too, we made it happen immediately. Lotte World is already a staple on the “must-visit” lists for tourists in Seoul. Rather than giving you a generic guide, I want to share a perspective from a true local and a ‘seasoned pro’—someone who grew up as an annual pass holder for several years two decades ago.

Lotte World

Booking Your Tickets: Tips for International Visitors
You can buy tickets both online and offline. Naturally, booking online in advance is much more cost-effective. However, the official Lotte World website can be tricky for foreigners due to registration issues. I highly recommend using online travel agencies (OTAs) instead.
There are generally two types of “Daily Pass” options based on your entry time:
- Full Day Pass: For those who want to be there from morning until night.
- After 4 Pass: For those entering after 4:00 PM.
+ Optional: You can also purchase a Magic Pass (Fast Track) if you want to skip the long lines and save time.
Tip : (As of April 2026) For international visitors, Klook currently offers a non-refundable Full Day Pass for 37,000 KRW, which is actually cheaper than the standard After 4 price! Generally, if you find a Full Day Pass for around 50,000 KRW or an After 4 Pass for under 40,000 KRW, you’re getting a great deal.
+ A note on School Uniforms: Just as people wear Hanbok to visit Gyeongbokgung Palace, it has become a popular trend to wear school uniforms at Lotte World. While I’ve had my fill of uniforms back in my school days and prefer wearing comfortable clothes, you’ll see plenty of both Koreans and tourists enjoying the park in stylish uniforms.

When to Go: The Strategy
As an adult, I personally prefer the After 4 Pass. Part of the reason is that it’s hard to find time during a weekday morning, and Friday afternoons are usually less crowded than weekends. Plus, let’s be honest—stamina isn’t what it used to be! Considering the next day’s schedule, “After 4” is just right. There is also something magical about the atmosphere when the sun goes down and the park lights up.
For Tourists: I strongly recommend a weekday visit.
- If your goal is to ride as many attractions as possible, go right when they open on a weekday.
- If you want to take photos, enjoy the atmosphere, and just hit a few key rides, the After 4 option is my personal pick.
The best part about Lotte World is its accessibility; it’s located right at Jamsil Station (Line 2). Since the park is divided into Adventure (Indoor) and Magic Island (Outdoor), it’s a great destination even on rainy days.

Must-Ride Attractions & Recommended Route
Before you go, always check the maintenance schedule. On weekdays, popular rides like Atlantis or the Flume Ride are often closed for routine checks.
Step 1: Head Outdoors Immediately (Magic Island)
Unless it’s raining, head straight outside as soon as you enter. The path to the outdoor area is on the 2nd floor; the easiest way is to take the escalator next to the ‘The Adventures of Sindbad‘ ride.
Once outside, head straight for ‘Atlantis’. It is the park’s signature attraction and always has the longest line. Additionally, outdoor rides sometimes close earlier than indoor ones, so it’s best to tackle this first.
- After Atlantis:
- Comet Express: A spinning indoor roller coaster (still running even if it rains!).
- Gyro Swing / Gyro Spin: If you love spinning sensations.
- Gyro Drop: If you enjoy the thrill of a free fall.
- Fantasy Dream: If you need a break, this cute train ride next to Comet Express is great—but only if there’s no line.

Step 2: Conquer the Indoor Park (Adventure)
Once you’ve finished the outdoor rides, head back inside for these classics:
- French Revolution: A 360-degree loop coaster (the line usually moves faster than it looks).
- Flume Ride: A water log ride (prepare to get a little wet!).
- The Conquistador (Spanish Pirate Ship): A classic Viking ride.
- Others: The Adventures of Sindbad (a great alternative to the Flume Ride), Bumper Cars, and Pharaoh’s Fury. (Note: Pharaoh’s Fury often has a very long wait; I only recommend it if the line is short, otherwise you might experience “your own wrath” rather than the Pharaoh’s!)

Step 3: The Finale
For a bird’s-eye view of the park, try the World Monorail or the Balloon Ride. Finally, end your night at the Carousel. Riding it just before the park closes provides the perfect atmosphere and the best photo opportunities.

Food & My Personal Experience
I visited on a Friday afternoon. I expected it to be packed, but it was surprisingly manageable. I stayed from 5:00 PM until the 10:00 PM closing time. My route was: ‘Atlantis → Dinner → World Monorail → French Revolution → Fantasy Dream (Comet Express was closed) → Sindbad → Carousel’.
There are plenty of restaurants and snack stalls throughout the park. Lotte World allows outside food, so feel free to bring what you like. I grabbed a churro while waiting for Atlantis, and my friend had a character-themed cheese bread. (Growing up, my go-tos were always slushies, sausages, and hot dogs!)
For dinner, we went to ‘Shanghai‘ (2nd floor, Adventure) for Jajangmyeon (짜장면, black bean noodles), a place I’ve visited since I was a kid. Honestly, though, if you want to maximize your ride count, it’s best to eat light!
It was a day spent enjoying myself without a single worry—and that is exactly the charm of an amusement park. Enjoy your trip to Lotte World!
